Bartlesville resident Samantha Barnes has taken her beading business to the next level and recently taught some Texas community college students the importance of her Native American culture.
Barnes, a self-taught beader, traveled to Texas with some family members to teach beading to students.
“Since it’s Native American Month, they wanted to implement it and celebrate,” said Barnes, a young mother of three.
Barnes, a mixture of Delaware and Cherokee, said she learned beading after salvaging a beading book from her grandmother’s auction house.
“I decided to try it and I’ve been beading for eight years,” she said.
